What is Therapy?

Therapy, also known as counseling or psychotherapy, is a process where you work with a trained professional to explore and address emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges. It provides a safe, confidential space for you to express your thoughts and feelings, gain insight into your experiences, and develop coping strategies for life’s difficulties. Therapy can help with a wide range of concerns, such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, trauma, and personal growth. The ultimate goal is to help you better understand yourself, improve your mental well-being, and create positive changes in your life.

There are many amazing options available when choosing a therapist! I invite you to learn more about me to see if my expertise and approach align with your needs. It’s important to feel a strong connection, as the therapeutic relationship is key to meaningful progress. To help you decide, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation. If we find that we’re not the perfect match, I’m happy to provide referrals to other professionals who may be a better fit.

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not directly bill insurance companies. However, I can provide you with a superbill or the necessary documentation to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. This allows you to access the benefits of therapy while maintaining flexibility in your care. If you have questions about fees, reimbursement, or the process of submitting claims, feel free to reach out, and I’ll be happy to assist you.

The fee for individual therapy sessions is $150 for a 60-minute session. For those who may need financial assistance, I offer a sliding scale based on eligibility. Please feel free to inquire about this option. Payments are accepted via cash, check, Health Savings Account (HSA), Mastercard, Visa, or Zelle.

The frequency of sessions will depend on your unique needs and goals. I generally recommend starting with weekly or biweekly sessions to build momentum and establish a strong working relationship. Over time, as you feel more confident and stable, we can adjust the schedule to better suit your progress. The ultimate goal is for you to feel empowered and self-sufficient without needing ongoing therapy.

At this time, I only offer virtual therapy sessions. This allows for greater flexibility and accessibility, especially for clients with busy schedules or those located throughout North Carolina.

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, I kindly ask that you do so at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled session, or failure to attend a session without notice, will result in a charge for the full session fee. This policy ensures that I can offer the time to other clients who may need it. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Yes! If you need to communicate between sessions for scheduling purposes or to ask a brief question, you are welcome to reach out via email or phone. Please note, however, that therapeutic conversations are reserved for our scheduled sessions to ensure the proper time and space for deeper exploration and support.

I specialize in evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and somatic awareness techniques. I also incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. Each approach is tailored to your unique needs, ensuring a personalized and effective therapeutic experience.
